NSW tradies now have the ability to convert their White Card (or general construction induction card) into digital format for easy display thanks to changes by ServiceNSW and Safework NSW.
More than 30 additional Home Building and Safework licence categories will soon be added in digital format as the NSW government embraces a digital transformation. The new digital licences feature an animated NSW Government logo, last refreshed date and time, QR code expires and reloads and a Waratah hologram which moves when the phone is tilted.
The biggest benefits of the new digital format licences is that they will update in real time once renewed, allowing tradies to safely continue working while the plastic version is in transit via the post. The digital wallet will eventually allow you to house all your licences (including your drivers licence!) online on the secure Service NSW platform.
To access the new digital licence, tradies will need to setup a MyServiceNSW account and download the Service NSW app, log in and follow the prompts. Your digital white card will then be stored in the app for you to display. As this is new technology the standard plastic card will still be issued as per normal and tradies are encouraged to keep these on hand in the interm for inspections.
