Trans Ams Round 2 race Phillip Island

After a bit of a false start, the rumble of the V8 muscle cars will rock Phillip Island this week when the Trans AM Australia series hits the track as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships! The Victorian COVID lockdown threw a spanner in the works for the series, postponing the original February race dates but the green light has been given and boy are the drivers ready to race again!

Round 1 saw Tim Brook slice through the field to claim third place in the final race at Symmons Plains in Tasmania. An impressive debut into the series for Tim and a promising sign of what’s to come as he and the Wall Racing team sync with the new #38 Mustang and learn how to unlock its full potential.

“The quality of drivers at the front of the field is very, very good, so to be not too far away from them already is a real positive,”

“Our pace out of the gate at Symmons Plains was really encouraging, especially because it’s a circuit we hadn’t been to before and didn’t have a lot of knowledge of the car,” he said. “The cars are very different to what I used to drive so the more experience I get in it the more time we should find.”

The extended downtime between rounds has allowed Tim and the Wall Racing team to make some enhancements to the car, tweaks that have already shown promising results at a recent practice day. At Symmons Plains, Tim missed out on the fastest lap by just 0.01s! Finding those precious seconds is crucial in car racing and the Wall Racing team will be hoping these latest refinements will give Tim that extra edge at Phillip Island.

With the car getting lots of attention in the workshop, Tim has also been keeping busy honing his skills and familiarising himself with the Phillip Island Circuit on the Wall Racing simulator. The Simworx SX02 Msport Pro Spec Simulator is one seriously cool piece of equipment and as close as you can get to driving the real thing. It boasts a SIMWORX Pro Spec Steering system and telemetry screen,  High Definition LED monitors, triple screen display and Supercar Shifter. The live telemetry is used by the Wall Racing team to fine-tune drivers skills, recognise trends and iron out any bad habits before race day.
