Deputy Premier John Barilaro has announced that construction workers from NSW LGAs of concern will be able to return to work on unoccupied sites from Wednesday, 11th August 2021 under the following conditions.
Construction workers from LGAs of concern must provide evidence that they have received:
- two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, or
- one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least three weeks before attending work, or
- one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and, if less than three weeks since that vaccine was administered, a negative COVID-19 test in the previous 72 hours.
- Unoccupied worksites will function at 50 percent capacity
Current NSW local government areas (LGAs) of concern that these rules apply to are:
- Cumberland, Fairfield,
- Georges River,

A mass vaccination day for construction workers has been announced for Sunday 15th August at Sydney Olympic Park. NSW Health is currently trialling rapid antigen testing, helping tradies receive test results faster than the current system.
