Amac Electrical Contractors is a Queensland based electrical business run by Aaron Mackenzie, delivering general electrical maintenance, split system installs and servicing, renovations, and new home builds. The business services a mix of residential, real estate, commercial, and builder clients, with a growing team out in the field and admin support in the office.
Like a lot of growing trade businesses, Aaron had already tried a few different systems over the years. ServiceM8 had worked for a long time, but the business had outgrown it. Other platforms felt too clunky or over complicated, and although Amac had already moved to Ascora, their original implementation experience left gaps in training and setup that stopped them from getting the most out of the software.
I'm over the moon about how everything's going with this. I rate it highly. Like if we were not to do it, then I'd still be stuck trying to learn this f*cken thing! Just the help and support's been great.
The Challenge
Good Software, But the Setup Was Holding Them Back
Amac Electrical Contractors already knew Ascora was the right fit for the business, but they needed help properly optimising the system and tying everything together. Their original third party implementation had stalled, leaving unfinished workflows, missing setup items, and confusion around some of Ascora’s more advanced features.
The business needed stronger reporting, better stock management, improved scheduling processes, recurring equipment jobs, cleaner quote and invoice templates, and more efficient workflows for the office and field team. Aaron also wanted the technicians more involved in the process so invoicing, timesheets, and job management didn’t all land back on him.
On top of that, they needed systems that worked properly in the field, including offline capability, section and stage based jobs, customer asset management, progress claims, and mobile functionality that suited how their techs actually worked day to day.
Yeah, good, good. I'm really happy with how everything's gone with you guys. And yeah, happy that we decided to go with Ascora. It's opened a few more things like the equipment side of things and like the techs being able to invoice and a little bit of quoting and stuff like that.
The Solution
Tailored Training and Smarter Workflows
TradiePad stepped in to deliver an Ascora optimisation and advanced training project focused on helping Amac Electrical Contractors fully unlock the software they already had in place.
Rather than starting from scratch, TradiePad reviewed the existing setup, identified the gaps, and worked through targeted training sessions tailored specifically to the way Aaron and his team operate. The project focused on improving workflows across scheduling, equipment management, mobile app usage, stock control, templating, recurring jobs, section based quoting, and reporting.
The training was customised to suit different learning styles across the business, making it easier for both office staff and field techs to confidently use the system. A big focus was helping the technicians take on more responsibility in the field using iPads and Ascora’s mobile functionality. Instead of everything flowing back through Aaron, the team could now capture job information, kits, notes, and invoicing details while onsite, making the whole process faster and more accurate.
Ray has a really good way of presenting stuff to different students I guess and their way of learning. He was very on to it, because obviously me and Gabe are different ages and learn differently, he kind of set it the way that we would both learn.

It gives a chance for our technicians to learn that side of things as well and take a bit of the workload of invoicing or getting it to a point where you can invoice it easier. So, that's what we're doing at the moment, setting them up and doing a bit of training with iPads and stuff so that they can do 90% of it and I just check over it, make sure that they've selected the right kits and Yeah, makes my life easier!

Whenever there's an email been sent, it's been answered. I think the main thing was our forms getting built.
